What company were you an intern at and how did you find out about it?
I interned at a company called Kanoti which is a digital communications agency, they contacted me through seeing my work at my degree show and asked if I was interested in doing their internship.
What were the reasons you went for an internship?
I had finished uni and didn’t have much on at the time. I thought it would be a good experience and a way of learning new skills.
What were your duties and what experience did you take away with you?
My duties were to draw up illustrations for projects and to produce storyboards and ideas, also some flash games and animations. It was great to work with them, they are a small group of people but it really felt like a family atmosphere, and I learnt how to produce flash animations.
What did the internship lead on to afterwards?
I am now doing some educational flash games for preschoolers for a company called MyGoNow whom I was connected to via Kanoti, and have done a few bits of work for Kanoti, it has also lead me onto more flash based work which I couldn’t have taken without taking the internship.
Would you recommend an internship to others?
Definitely, I already have! I had a long commute to do everyday for six weeks as I had moved back home, but it was defiantly worth it. If anything it’s a great way to meet new people with similar interests and make new business contacts.
